What Is General Liability Insurance?

It provides you with protection for a wide variety of potential Co-op issues. Liability lawsuits are especially dangerous because individuals can make liability claims years after an incident occurs.

General Liability coverages can be quite broad. Here are three of the main coverage areas along with examples of how Liability helps to protect you and your Co-op.

  • BODILY INJURY –  If someone trips over your bag, etc. and is injured while you are working, you can face a lawsuit or be held responsible for the resulting medical expenses. Liability can cover both the lawsuit and the medical expenses that result.
  • PROPERTY DAMAGE – If you spill water on your clients computer, disabling it and causing important customer data to be lost, you can be held responsible for its replacement.  Liability can cover you for the loss.
  • PERSONAL INJURY – If you are speaking with someone else about a client in a false, or unflattering way, the client may find out and sue you for slander. General Liability can cover the cost of the lawsuit and pay for an attorney to defend you.
